Gators split tri-match

BROOKLINE, Mass. ---- The Pine Manor College women's volleyball team split two matches at the Newbury College Tri-Match on Saturday, falling to Becker College, 25-18, 25-15, 25-20, before beating the host Nighthawks, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-9.

The Gators are now 5-12 overall.

In the opener against Becker, Kendra Williams (San Diego, Calif) led the way with nine kills and six digs. Senior setter Ashley Whiteshield (Seward, Alaska) recorded twenty-two assists. Sophomore Alexa Leon (El Centro, Calif) finished with seven kills and twenty-two digs, while sophomore Viyanni Johnson (Aviano, Italy) added four kills and nine digs.

Facing the Nighthawks, Johnson recorded eleven kills while Leon led the defense with 26 digs. Whiteshield finished with 27 set assists.

Pine Manor is back on the court on Tuesday when they host to Lesley University for a 7:00 p.m. match.
