Gators take first win of the season

The Pine Manor Women's Volleyball team secured their first win defeating Mass Maritime Academy in an exciting 3-1 victory.  After falling behind in the first set, the Gators rallied back for a 25-23.  The next two sets were equal nail-bitters as PMC won 25-23 in the 2nd set, and MMA won 25-23 in the 3rd set.  The Gators then finished the match with jump serves from Sophomore Rachael Julien to win 25-17.

Mass Maritime kept pace with the Gators in every set led by Junior setter Emma Ethier with 15 assists and Junior Libero Stephanie O'Connor with 16 digs.  Their offense coming from Senior Charleen Klangos with 13 kills and from Freshmen Kaleigh Hoffman. The Buccaneers next match will be Saturday the 19th in the Sixth Annual Maritime Classic at Kings Point N.Y.

Leading the Gators was Sophomore Ashley Whiteshield with 22 assists and 5 service aces with the defensive help of Sophomore Mary Owen with 18 digs and Senior Carline Kirksey-Almond with 13 digs.  Offensively the Gators looked at Senior Natasia Franklin with 9 kills and 3 solo blocks and to Freshmen outside hitter Jenna Hall with 14 kills and 6 aces. 

The Gators face UMaine at Presque Isle this Sunday in double header at 12 PM
