Gators Earn OT Victory Against Albertus Magnus

Pine Manor College (2-1-1) won its second straight match coming from a goal down on three separate occasions in the game to earn an overtime victory over visiting Albertus Magnus (3-1), 4-3.

Both sophomore Jose Gonzalez (Houston, TX/Spring Woods) and Henry Garcia (Burleson, TX/Burleson) scored twice for the Gators.

Garcia notched the team's first goal on a feed from Elmer Pineda (Santa Rosa, CA/Piner) to tie the game in the 48th minute, 1-1. Conceding a goal just a minute later, the Gators would need another 20 minutes before they equalized for the second time on Gonzalez's first headed goal of the game finishing off Oscar Uriel Roque's (Santa Rosa, CA/Montgomery) cross to tie the score in the 70 th minute, 2-2.

Once again Pine Manor allowed Albertus to go ahead in the 78th minute, setting up Garcia's dramatic penalty kick in the 80th minute. After Roque was fouled in the box, Garcia stepped up to the ball and confidently sent his PK off the top of the crossbar, straight down and then back up into the roof of the goal to set up overtime in the 80th minute, 3-3.

With only five seconds to go in the first overtime period, Noel Rios (El Paso, TX/Bel Air) sent his free kick into the box and Gonzalez was first to the ball beating Albertus goalkeeper Jared Brennan. Gonzalez's header completed Pine Manor's dramatic come-from-behind win, 4-3.
