Gators winning streak snapped by Vikings

Chestnut Hill, Mass. -- Grace Dos Santos (Brockton, Mass.) and Mayele Malango (Lowell, Mass.) scored second half goals and Chris Jimenez (Nashua, N.H.) recorded his fourth shutout of the season as Salem State blanked Pine Manor 2-0 on Thursday afternoon at Hedley Field. The Vikings up their record to 8-5 while the Gators slip to 9-5-1.

A scoreless first half, which saw Salem State hold a 7-2 advantage in shots, continued midway into the second before Dos Santos broke the stalemate off a corner with an assist from Malango in the 62nd minute. Malango extended the lead to 2-0 just over six minutes later, as he converted his 14th goal of the season on an assist from Nahuel Aligbay (Leominster, Mass.). Malango has now earned a point in 11-of-13 Salem State games this season.

The Vikings received a hand from their defense, which allowed just three shots on goal as Jimenez made all three stops for his seventh win.
