Nashua, N.H. – Daniel Webster College freshman Aaron Esparza (Dover, N.H.) scored three goals in the opening 17 minutes of the game, registering a natural hat trick to lead the Eagles to a 5-2 victory over Pine Manor College men's soccer on Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field.
Daniel Webster improves to 2-2-1 with the win. The Gators drop to 1-3-0 a day after recording the first win in program history.
Trailing 3-0 at the half, first-year classmates Diego Maillo (Miami, Fla.) and Mahamadou Coulibaly (Bamako, Mali) scored just over two minutes apart to cut the deficit to one goal.
Maillo scored his second goal of the season just 1:40 after the half, burrying an unassisted strike from 10 yards out.
The Gators then took advantage of a rebound as Blade Leavenworth's (Bourne, Mass.), pictured, header was initially turned away before Coulibaly finished from two yards out to make the score 3-2.
The Gators would get no closer than the one goal deficit as Nathan Misidi (Atlanta, Ga.) and Richard Eaton (Hudson, N.H.) would tack on goals at 66:05 and 77:44, respectively, to help DWC earn the 5-2 victory.
PMC's Oscar Estrada (North Port, Fla.) and Dominic Douglas (Bainbridge, Ga.) combined to make four saves in the loss, as Daniel Webster outshot PMC 9-4. DWC's Ryan Flaherty (Manorville, N.Y.) and Jax Eddleman (Richlands, N.C.) combined for the win in goal with Flaherty making two saves.
Pine Manor will return to action when they visit Norwich on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles will host Plymouth St. in thier next match on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
